By Dairy Farmers, For Dairy Farmers

Your calves represent perhaps the most rewarding financial investment you can make. More reliable than stock trading, more lucrative than a savings account, dairy calf rearing pays dividends like nothing else. So you’ll want to “Shelter Your Investment” and grow it in the most effective ways possible – and that means calf housing solutions from Agri-Plastics.

Our hutches are world-renowned for their durability, efficiency and ergonomic design. Whether you need group housing, starter pens or more flexible calf housing, Agri-Plastics can help your livestock begin strong and stay strong.

Calf housing challenges can have a big impact on the health of your herd. That is why, in 1995, Darren and Rob VanBuuren founded Agri-Plastics. These third-generation dairymen know first-hand the difficulties you and your crew experience on the farm, so they began experimenting with hutch designs to provide healthier, more comfortable environments for calves that help improve efficiencies for your business.

Over the years, Agri-Plastics has listened and learned from many other producers, and they have used that knowledge to create game-changing innovations that have since become industry standards. Each hutch, pen and group housing system focuses on 5 life-sustaining elements to help reduce calf mortality. Agri-Plastics was founded in 1995. It began when the VanBuuren Family, dairy farmers at first, saw a need for calf housing and decided to grow a business literally in a backyard shed of their Ontario farm. The EXL Calf Hutch was the first product that was developed and produced by the VanBuurens. Soon to follow were additional calf hutches and accessories, all detailed with features that benefit both the calf and the dairy farmer.

As the business grew, the VanBurren family decided to enlarge their operations to a plant in Grassie, Ontario. With over 100,000 square feet of production and warehouse space. The Ontario plant features:

  • 8 Rotational Molding Stations
  • 1 Robotic Trimming cell
  • 1 Pulverizer
  • 5 shipping bays

By having a larger production facility, the company was able to produce more calf housing products that were shipping not just to Canada, but to the United States, Europe, Russia, Asia, Mexico, Middle East and South America.

In 2018, a second production facility in Sidney, Nebraska was built. By having a distribution plant in the western U.S., Agri-Plastics was able to meet higher production demands, as well as getting product out to the customers faster. The Sidney, Nebraska plant is 159,000 square feet. This facility features:

  • 8 Rotational Molding Stations
  • State-of the-art powder dispensing system
  • 3 Robotic Trimming Cells
  • In-house recycling program
  • 5 shipping bays
